Step-by-Step Guide: How to Install Your Custom Dirt Bike Graphics Like a Pro

So, you’ve just scored a fresh set of custom graphics from Omega Moto Graphics—nice one! But before you hit the track and show off, you want that kit looking mint. We’re breaking down the whole process, from prep to final press, so you can install dirt bike graphics like a pro. Let’s get stuck in!

Why Proper Dirt Bike Graphics Application Matters

Getting your motocross graphics on straight isn’t just about looking good (though, let’s be real, that’s a biggie). Proper application means your kit lasts longer, handles the abuse, and doesn’t peel off mid-ride. Plus, nailing the install yourself saves you cash and gives you bragging rights in the pits.

What You’ll Need

  • Your custom Omega Moto Graphics kit
  • A clean, dry dirt bike (plastic panels removed)
  • Isopropyl alcohol or mild soapy water
  • Microfibre cloths
  • A squeegee or credit card (wrapped in a soft cloth)
  • A hairdryer or heat gun (optional, but pro tip)
  • Patience and good tunes

Step 1: Prep Your Plastics

Before you even touch those graphics, make sure your plastics are spotless. Dirt, grease, or old glue will mess with the stick. Here’s how:
  1. Remove plastics from your bike for best results.
  2. Wash with soapy water and dry completely.
  3. Wipe down with isopropyl alcohol—this removes any leftover residue and gives you a clean surface for the graphics to bond.
Motocross graphics install tip: Avoid using polishes or waxes before application—they’ll kill the stick!

Step 2: Plan Your Placement

Lay out your graphics next to the matching plastics. Double-check you’ve got the right pieces for each panel—front fender, shrouds, number plates, fork guards, etc.

Pro tip: Snap a quick pic of your plastics before you start. It helps if you get lost mid-way!

Step 3: Peel & Position

Start with the biggest, flattest panel first (usually the shrouds or side plates).
  1. Peel back a small section of the backing paper—about 2–4 inches.
  2. Align the edge of the graphic with your panel, using any bolt holes or panel edges as guides.
  3. Lightly tack down the exposed section. Don’t press it all the way yet—you want to be able to reposition if needed.

Step 4: Stick It Down Smooth

Once you’re happy with your alignment:
  1. Slowly peel away more backing as you go, smoothing the graphic onto the plastic with your fingers.
  2. Use your squeegee (or wrapped credit card) to press the graphic down, working from the center out to push out air bubbles.
  3. If you hit a curve or edge, use a hairdryer or heat gun on low to gently warm the vinyl. This makes it more flexible and helps it hug the plastic.
Motocross graphics install tip: Take your time! Rushing leads to wrinkles and bubbles.

Step 5: Work the Details

For tricky spots (tight curves, edges, or bolt holes):
  • Gently heat the area and stretch the vinyl as needed.
  • Use your squeegee to press the graphic into grooves or around corners.
  • If you get a bubble, pop it with a pin and press it flat.

Step 6: Final Check & Cure

Go over every panel, pressing down all edges, corners, and any spots that look like they might lift. Give the whole bike a once-over with the hairdryer—this helps the adhesive bond.
Let your bike sit for at least 24 hours before washing or riding hard. This “cures” the adhesive for max hold.

Bonus Motocross Graphics Install Tips

  • Warm plastics = easier install. If it’s cold, bring your panels inside before you start.
  • Don’t stress if you mess up. Our kits are tough, and you can usually peel back and reposition as long as you haven’t pressed hard.
  • Crashed and need a new piece. Don't stress, you can order just one piece of your graphics kit, it's called a reprint!
